About Everyday Expeditions

Everyday Expeditions was founded on the belief that meaningful education connects learners to the natural world and prepares them for the rapidly evolving future.

In today's world, children need more than just academic knowledge—they need scientific literacy to understand their environment, the tools to navigate an AI-driven landscape, and deep connections to the natural world that sustains us all. As Thomas Henry Huxley said over a century ago, it is essential to create opportunities for children to develop a genuine connection to nature. If you don't understand the value of your own environment, there is no reason for you to care about it.

Everyday Expeditions brings together three essential elements of modern education: quality science curriculum that inspires discovery, guidance through the complex AI landscape, and immersive nature experiences that ground us in what matters most. Whether working with individual educators, schools, or learners directly, I believe the best education happens when we help people explore and understand both the everyday spaces around them and the tools that will shape their future.

Every learner deserves an education that prepares them to be curious, capable, and connected—to nature, to science, and to the possibilities ahead.

“To a person uninstructed in natural history, his country or seaside stroll is a walk through a gallery filled with wonderful works of art, nine-tenths of which have their faces turned to the wall.”

— Thomas Henry Huxley

About Emilie

Hi! I'm Emilie, the human behind Everyday Expeditions. As far back as I can remember, I have loved learning, particularly about the natural world. I studied Wildlife Biology and became a Science Educator. Over the last two decades, I have gained experience in the classroom, in the field, and designing curriculum.

My work has evolved to meet the changing needs of education. While my foundation remains in science education and nature connection, I now also help educators navigate the AI landscape to ensure that as we embrace new technologies, we don't lose sight of our connection to each other and the natural world.

Nature journaling has been central to my practice, from research field journals to sketching during walks. This practice of slowing down and observing has shaped how I approach all learning. Through Everyday Expeditions, I share these skills alongside educational strategies that combine timeless practices with innovative tools.
